I don't have anything crafty to to say in this post. I wanted to use this post to thank my followers. I am really thankful for every one of you! (Mainly for putting up with me!) Tula Pink Designer of the Month Series at Craizee Corner's Blog

Hey everyone!!! *waves like a crazy person* I hope you all are having a great day! Thank you so much for letting me be a guest post in your new series on your blog Sharon! I'm #4 on her blog, so head over there and check out the other great people and be sure to enter her giveaway!

Wow, I don't know where to start. This is my first guest post! *squee* I started sewing back in 2006 during my husband's first deployment. I needed something to fill my "free" time and so I dusted off my sewing machine that I've had for a while. Pulled out the manual and taught myself how to thread it and everything. I then grabbed a couple quilting magazines and started sewing. I haven't looked back since!!! Three kids (I had already had our first son when I started sewing) and 4 years later I'm still addicted! So far I've only made small quilts (baby and wall hangings for others) and I have a few larger quilts in various stages of completion. That's not what you're here for though. Show me the Prince Charming!!!!!

I used the Sea Turtle and children playing fabric from the Honey collection for the bodice.

I used the froggie fabric from the Indigo collection for my skirt.

Well, I figured since so many others would be entering quilt (which are awesome), I wanted to be a little diferent and showcase TulaPink's fabric in another way. I already had everything to make a dress that I've been wanting to make. I used Sisboom's Meghan Peasant pattern. This was a super simple dress to make (no zippers!). I really had so much fun playing with my fabric. I am so in love with this fabric. I have leftover fabric so I plan to use it to make several different projects. So stay tuned to see what I make with it.

Several of the seams are 3/8 or 5/8th of an inch seams. I wanted to throw out a new tip I came across. If you don't have a seam guide or a good line to measure your seams, I had always thought about masking tape as a guide. I came across this today on Pinterest and wanted to share it. You can use different colored rubber bands for your different measurements. Especially great if you have several different seams to sew.

Giveaway Charity Challenge for Joplin, MO

Jeanne over at The Learning Curve is hosting this charity challenge. As you might know, Joplin, Mo was hit by a F5 tornado that devistated the town. Half of the town and much of St. John's Hospital was destroyed.

"[Jeanne's] quilting circle "The Glory Bee's" have challenged [them]selves to make 100 flannel nursery receiving blankets, 100 knit "birth hats", 100 pair of knit or flannel "baby fist gloves" and 100 baby quilts to be given to the new baby upon discharge from hospital ."

The Great Jelly Roll Race of 2011

This was such a fun quilt to make! It only took one jelly roll and a couple hours. Shawna over at 1Choice4Quilting set up and hosted this race. Her husband loves the Indy 500 and goes nearly every year. She decided that this year us quilters would have a race of our own. The inspiration came from Heirloom Creations who did a Jelly Roll 1600 race (the jelly roll sewn together end to end is 1600 inches long). So Sunday, May 29th (same day as the Indy 500), we would have our race. On May 28th, Carb Day, we were to unroll our jelly rolls and mix them up. Then we sewed them together end to end like we would do for binding. The race would be May 29th when we started sewing them into a quilt. I got a later start though. I didn't start until the morning of May 29th and didn't know if I would be able to get my quilt finished in time, but with 4 minutes to spare I posted my quilt on the flickr group. 22 people finished their quilts on time and I was one of the 2 winners choosen!!!! Woohoo! I won a $50 gift certificate for 1Choice4Quilting's shop. I have decided that since I was blessed to win this I am going to pass it on. I'm going to use this to buy fabric to  make some awesome items for our wounded warriors and veterans.

Scrap Giveaway

FairyFace Designs is having a "Big Scrappy Giveaway" over on her blog. 650g (1.5lbs) of scraps to be exact. Hurry though because the giveaway ends May 2nd 6pm (GMT).

Those would be awesome to get for my Scrap Vomit quilt I'm going to make (and I'll share them too).

New Quilting Book Club

I am so excited to let y'all know about a new Quilting Book Club. It's started by Shawna over at 1 Choice 4 Quilting . She is a super awesome lady that I talk to on Twitter. Spring Chics Giveaway

Just One Star Moda Challenge

Earlier this week I found out about the Moda "Just One Star" Quilt Challenge. Moda's challenge is to piece, quilt & bind 100 quilts in 100 days for soliders. They need 1800 star blocks to reach this goal. The deadline is May 1st, 2011 to have all the blocks sent in. There quilt goal is June 14th, Flag Day. They are working with the Semper Fi Fund for this challenge.

This challenge means a lot to me because we are an Army family. My husband is an Army Engineer. Alomst a year ago my husband was med-evac'd from Iraq and diagnosed with PTSD. He was already suffering from a shoulder injury from his first deployment. I am very grateful to the Wounded Warrior Project for being there in Germany to make sure he had the necessities that were left in Iraq. When I heard about this challenge I jumped on the bandwagon without hessitation. I want to give back and comfort other soldiers who are having a rough time. Every little bit helps!

I made 6 star blocks. One for each member of my family (my husband, 4 kiddos, and myself). Each block will have a seperate person's name on it. The fabric I chose is "Sweet Liberty" by Pat Sloan.
